Toyota to use Nvidia's AI technology for self-driving cars

Toyota Motor Corp. has decided to adopt U.S. semiconductor maker
Nvidia Corp.'s artificial intelligence technology for its
self-driving cars to be put on the market in the next few years,
Nvidia said Wednesday.

Nvidia's Drive PX AI car computer platform enables cars to
better understand the massive volume of data generated by their
sensors and to handle the broad spectrum of autonomous driving
situations, the company said.

The Japanese auto giant is seeking to introduce in around 2020
self-driving vehicle systems that allow cars to make lane changes on
highways.

Nvidia, known for designing graphics processing chips, has
partnerships with Swedish carmaker Volvo Car Corp. in the field of
self-driving. (May 10)
