Yoshihiro Katsumura

With great sorrow, we would like to inform you that Yoshi Katsumura passed away on Sunday, Aug. 2 after a courageous, one-and-a half year battle with cancer.
Yoshi, 65, was the legendary and longtime chef-proprietor of Yoshi’s Café, located in Chicago’s Lakeview. Yoshi and his wife Nobuko have continuously operated the fine dining establishment since 1982.
As his final wish, Yoshi asked that the legacy of the tremendous employees and customers of Yoshi's Cafe continue on for many years to come.
Yoshi is survived by Nobuko, wife of 39 years; daughter Mari, son Ken, Daughter-in-law Molly, grandson Hiro and devoted staff of Yoshi’s Café.
A funeral/memorial services will be held at 6 pm on Monday, Aug. 17 at the Midwest Buddhist Temple, 435 W. Menomonee Street, Chicago.
