Stanley Seishi Kurokawa
Stanley Seishi Kurokawa, age 84 passed away peacefully in Las Vegas, Nevada on April 7, 2017. He was born on May 5, 1932 in Hilo, Hawaii to Akira and Hiroko (Yorita) Kurokawa and was the third oldest of six. He served in the US Army and spent time in Japan and Germany. On August 31, 1957, he married Barbara Moriguchi. He spent many years teaching Japanese flower arranging and was a scout leader and scoutmaster. He is survived by his wife, Barbara; siblings, Gordon (Thelma), Ronald (Etsuko), and Elsie (Richard) Asakura; three children, Jeffrey (Audrey), Stephanie, and April (Derek Schmider); three granddaughters: Alexandre Kurokawa, Breanna Wittes, and Britney Wittes; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers, Terumi and Roy. Stanley will be remembered as someone who cared very deeply about his family and community. A memorial service will be held on May 11, 2017 at the American Legion Memorial Civic Center, 6140 Dempster St., in Morton Grove. Visitation is from 5 to 7pm with a service afterwards.
