Asian Pop-up Cinema Season 16 features five Japanese films for “Japan Cinema Showcase.” The last one is a French/Japanese film Umami: A Taste of Happiness directed by Slony Sow. Following a near-death experience, France’s leading chef Gabriel Carvin (Gérard Depardieu) throws himself into a quest seeking the flavor that has confounded his life.
