It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Yoshiko Sugano at the age of 93.
She was born in Fukushima, Japan on February 28, 1930 to Kiyoshi and Kura Abe. Preceded in passing by late husband Tadao Sugano and daughter Susan Sugano.
Anna Marie "Aiko" Nakamura
Anna Marie "Aiko" Nakamura, age 99, passed away on August 17, 2023 in Evanston, IL. Beloved wife of the late Mark M. Nakamura; she was preceded in death by her parents Shunzo "Joe" and Yoshie (Mihara) Miyamoto and her brothers James and Frank Miyamoto; dear mother of Gail (Bill) Radzevich, Claire Rees, Guy (Ann), Kathy, Joan (Tim) Crowe; fond grandmother of Scott (Jennifer) and Brian (Sandi) Rundio, Sean and Samantha Crowe; loving great-grandmother of Kyle and Anthony John Rundio.
Sachiko Kodama
Sachiko Kodama, 92, of Chicago, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 11, 2023. An atomic bomb survivor, she was the beloved wife of the late Masahiko and loving mother of Shinya. She was born Sachiko Uchimoto in Hiroshima, Japan on September 18, 1930, and came to the United States in December 1973. She worked many years at United Bindery which was operated by her late uncle, Ted Uchimoto.
Reverend Yukei Ashikaga
Reverend Yukei Ashikaga passed away on April 29, 2023 in Tokyo at the age of 94. He had served as minister at the Buddhist Temple of Chicago for over 50 years.
Kazue Wakabayashi
Kazue Wakabayashi, 93, went home to our God the Father April 1, 2023 at home surrounded by family.
She was born in Japan in 1930. Preceded in passing by late husband Gene. Survived by children Allen Wakabayashi (Diane) and Carol Gonzalez (Miguel) and grandchildren Alexis (Maria Dayana), Kevin, Clarissa and great grandchildren Sebastian, Joaquin, and Julian.
Michio Iwao
Michio Iwao, 100, passed away peacefully in his home on Monday, February 20, 2023. He was born on July 12, 1922 to Kotama and Tomonosuke Iwao in Suisun, California. Michio married Jean Campbell and to this union was born three children – Michael (deceased), David and Rhonda. Michio loved his family and was blessed with many grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He was known for his warm smile and kind heart. He loved to teach others how to make things. He was a tremendous resource to the community and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
