Michiko Itatani is an award-winning artist and educator who has exhibited her paintings throughout the world for over 50 years. Born in Osaka, Japan, Itatani came to the United States in her early 20s. She earned both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree from the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, where she then taught for 40 years. This lecture will offer insight into her work, which explores human existence in the larger context of the universe. Guest speaker is Mary Ellen Murphy, Volunteer Docent with Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art.
