Asian Pop-up Cinema Season 16 features five Japanese films for “Japan Cinema Showcase.” The fourth in line is Convenience Story directed by Satoshi Miki. It’s a comedy revolving around one of the cornerstones of Japanese culture, the convenience store, which are open 24/7. While out buying dog food at a neighborhood convenience store the protagonist begins, via a sudden push through a refrigerated display case, a karmic journey that leads him to another world.
