This two-hour class is perfect for anyone who wants to learn the basics of whetstone knife sharpening and knife skills. The class will cover different knife types, steels, laminations, and geometry, with a focus on sharpening a knife while removing the least amount of material. Participants will learn how to sharpen their knives using a 1000/6000 grit dual whetstone and will be provided with guidance on proper technique. From there, it will move on to knife skills, starting with knife safety and different types of grips. Participants will also learn various ways to cut produce, including dicing, mincing, and julienning. The experienced instructor will provide hands-on guidance to ensure each participant is comfortable and confident using their knives. At the end of the class, each participant will leave with a 1000/6000 grit dual whetstone to continue practicing their skills at home. Participants will also have the opportunity to use their newly acquired skills to prepare some snacks during the class. Bring your own knives to sharpen and cutting board.
