Ouchigohan! Oyakodon (Online)

Join Japan Society for the January edition of the family-friendly online Japanese cooking class series Ouchigohan! Japanese Home Cooking. You can cook along this online cooking class from your own kitchen! On the menu for January is oyakodon: a type of donburi, or Japanese rice bowl with delicious toppings. These full-meals-in-a-bowl are healthy, filling and quick to eat—everything kids need! Oyakodon features both chicken meat and eggs. Tender chunks of chicken are simmered with onions in a dashi broth and, when just hot enough, beaten eggs are poured over the top and cooked until silky and just set. Then, it is all set atop a fluffy bed of rice for a delicious dinner sure to warm your bellies. A refreshing and colorful daikon and carrot salad rounds out the meal. Participants will make their own dishes with step-by-step guidance from TABLE FOR TWO’s Debra Samuels.

Hours: 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm Chicago time

Cost: Japan Society member $10; nonmember $15
