The Japanese American Community to Host the 41st Annual Lunar New Year Celebration

   The Japanese American Community will host the Asian American Coalition of Chicago’s 41st Annual Lunar New Year Celebration on Saturday, February 10, 2024, at the Drury Lane in Oakbrook, Illinois. It is the first time in 10 years that the Japanese and the Japanese American communities work together to host the celebration.

   The members of The Chicago Japanese American Council (CJAC) have already made “Our Team 2024” and actively preparing the events where more than 1,000 Asian Americans from 16 Asian countries get together every year to strengthen the Asian American community to enrich the Asian cultural values and recognize the importance of Asian American contributions to the American democracy and economy.

    “Together for a Brighter Tomorrow” is the theme of this year’s celebration.

◆ Timeline of the celebration:

 * Reception: Doors open at 4:30 pm

    Doors will open at 4:30 pm for the reception, During the reception, guests can take advantage of photo opportunities with friends, visiting dignitaries, and political candidates. Those who make the rounds of the exhibit tables will be able to participate in a special Passport raffle. A silent auction will feature Asian collectibles, as well as gift certificates for venues around town.

 * Main Event Celebration: Doors open at 5:30 pm.

    During the celebration, Koto music by the Chicago Koto Group and Awaodori by the Miko Ren will be presented to show the rich Japanese culture. There will also be Osaka Sister City World Expo 2025 Promotion and award presentations after the dinner.
