Ikebana, also known as the flower way (kado), developed alongside the tea ceremony (chado) with the introduction of Buddhism to Japan. The Ikenobo school of ikebana began more than 550 years ago and is still flourishing today. Join the Ikebana class at the Anderson Japanese Gardens to learn how we can make discoveries about nature, others, and ourselves through the flower way – by carefully observing how plants grow and arranging them. The instructor is Reiko Takahashi, an Ikenobo-certified ikebana instructor.
Time: 1:30 pm
Cost: Anderson Gardens member $40; nonmember $45 (includes flower materials)
